    Running from the Wyoming border to just north of Denver, Weld County is home to over 32 charming towns, most located along the western border of the county. From the county seat of Greeley to the towns that dot the I-25 corridor: Johnstown, Frederick and Firestone, there’s quite a bit packed into the county that is has the third largest area in the state of Colorado.

    James Michener, world renowned author, wrote the book Centennial which was set in Northern Colorado. He attended what is now known as the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley from 1936-1941.

    Each June marks the beginning of one of the biggest rodeos in the country, the Greeley Stampede. Old west meets new traditions as thousands flock to the many events and attractions that are offered. If a day hike sounds good to you, check out the Pawnee National Grasslands and Buttes. This area is known worldwide for its birding, and the landscape is dotted with old homesteads throughout its 30 by 60 mile area. For a truly unique experience, the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg is home to The Wild Animal sanctuary where rescued lions, tigers and wolves make their home.
