“The mountains are calling, and I must go.” – John Muir

If a stunning view of the Rocky Mountains sounds like your cup of tea, then Longmont Colorado is your kind of town. Nestled where the Midwest begins at the beginning of America’s Great Plains, Longmont is a city of just under 100,000 people in a city that spans over 22 miles. And this 22 miles packs quite a punch: Restaurants, outdoor sports, breweries and artists abound in this little part of Colorado.

Downtown Longmont is alive with activity. Old Town Main Street boasts food options that range from BBQ to Irish fare and Indian food selections. The one-of-a-kind retail stores that dot the boulevards include locally owned women’s clothing boutiques where the owners do custom fittings for clients before opening for the day or happy hour meet ups for groups of women that want to explore both fashion and its accessories. Robin’s Chocolates, one of the five top chocolatiers in North America (according to Dessert Professional) calls Longmont home. And for a truly unique culinary experience – Longmont’s Cheese Importers boasts a French style bistro and the largest walk-in cheese cooler in the state; over 350 different domestic and imported cheeses are available for customers looking for something wonderfully unique.

For the outdoor enthusiast, Longmont hosts miles of paved trails and scenic greenways that run along the St Vrain River that runs thru the middle of town. Union Reservoir and MacIntosh Lake sport kayaking and paddleboarding; MacIntosh Lake has a three-mile trail that is one part pavement, one part dirt. For a quick, close-to-town jaunt, Rabbit Mountain Open Space offers incredible hiking and snow shoeing. And the City of Longmont runs three municipal golf courses, each beautifully maintained and highly enjoyable.

Arts and culture make its home in Longmont. Each spring the Longmont Artist Guild hosts its annual Art show, where local artists’ collections are on display for the public; in the summer, the city hosts a multitude of concerts. For those with a love of farm, nostalgia and a good old-fashioned carnival ride, each August brings the Boulder County Fair. During the holiday season, the local BrewHop trolley converts from a brewery tour destination opportunity to an evening tour of Christmas lights throughout the city.
