But there is even more to Boulder that makes this place an icon of American cities. If you, or someone you know, is a self-proclaimed foodie, then Boulder is the destination for you. This town of just over 100,000 people holds both James Beard award nominees and winners, as well as champion chef titles for television food shows like Top Chef and Cutthroat Kitchen. If the corner eatery is more up your alley, the town is dotted with local favorites that include all fare styles from Nepalese, Indian and Greek to American, German and Italian. The city boasts five different sources for chocolate.
And if you love some good old-fashioned fun, Boulder is the place to be. Families from throughout Boulder (and Boulder County) visit Gateway Park Fun Center, an 11-acre park that has Go-karts, mini golf, a driving range and an arcade. People from all over the world take the free tour of Celestial Seasonings tea company. If you prefer something a little stronger, Boulder is home to a multitude of breweries; it holds the honor of having the fourth-highest concentration of breweries in the Country. And if retail therapy is high on your bucket list, the walking mall along Pearl Street is filled with local shops and eateries. Around the corner is the Dushanbe Tea House (a gift from Boulder’s sister city in Tajikistan, a one-of-a-kind building in the western hemisphere) and Boulder’s very own farmer’s market.
